Forget Not His Benefits

As our helper, the Holy Spirit is faithful to remind us of God's Word at just the right moment.

I was in the middle of what felt like endless laundry when I heard Him reminding me, "Forget not His benefits..." I decided to pause and look up this verse out of curiosity and what I uncovered was a treasure trove.

"Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless His holy name. Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget none of His benefits; Who pardons all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases; Who redeems your life from the pit, Who crowns you with lovingkindness and compassion; Who satisfies your years with good things, So that your youth is renewed like the eagle." Psalm 103:1-5

What a merciful and loving God we serve.

PRAYER: Lord, thank you for this reminder today. I do not want to forget what it means to be a child of God. As a child of God, I get to receive Your benefit package which gives me an inheritance of life, freedom, and truth.

Lord, I bless Your holy name. As it says in verse 8 of Psalm 103, "You are compassionate and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in lovingkindness." Thank you for faithfully pardoning me from sin. Because of Jesus' sacrifice on the cross, sin has no power over me. I am set free! God, You are my healer, the Great Physician. Thank you for the brilliant doctors, science, and modern medicine you have given us to aid in healing, but you alone are my Creator and Healer. God, You are my Redeemer. I am no longer in bondage to the past. My life is securely in your hands. You satisfy my life with good things and renew me like the eagle.

I do not want to look to the world, or to our peers for satisfaction or approval.

God, I look to You. It is in You that I find my strength and salvation.

Amen.
